l’histoire

The story of wine is nearly as old as the story of mankind; and for as long as people have tilled the land, they have harvested and pressed grapes to create wine in all its many colours and complexities. Born from the soil, wine is truly of the elements – earth, water, air and fire –  and it was an elemental passion for wine that drew Jean-François Boras to Langoiran, in the world’s most famous wine region of Bordeaux. Here he realised a lifelong dream – to create world-class wines of outstanding depth, character and quality.Testing

Fascinated by wine for many years, Jean-François Boras had long dreamed of owning his own vineyard; but it needed to be a manageable size, in a location where the elements would produce the finest grapes when grown in a natural, environmentally friendly way. And the vineyard must have its own caves – a subterranean network perfect for maturing and storing wine. All these elements came together at Domaine de Bellevue high above the town of Langoiran, where a long abandoned vineyard was discovered, acquired and finally brought back to life.
